Background
Musculoskeletal problems, such as lower back pain, are becoming an ever-increasing problem, that is often treated with the help of physiotherapy. Deficits in movement are of detected through the use of the Functional Movement Screen, or FMS for short, a vital but often subjectively scored assessment tool.
A good outcome in physiotherapy and therefore betterment of the patient’s ailments is dependent on another key factor, patient compliance. This is a factor that is hard to control from the physiotherapists point of view, since they must trust their patients, when they say they have done their assigned exercises at home. A task that is increasingly difficult in today’s fast paced world.
Overview
MOVIVO. is a digital physiotherapy platform. Built around a Smart Mirror, it guides both physiotherapists and patients through the full care journey — from initial screening to discharge. The platform tackles two core problems: patients lose progress between sessions and therapists lose hours to manual documentation and scoring. MOVIVO. automates the movement screening and reporting workflow while giving patients live, real-time feedback as they move.
Key Features
- Four-step clinical workflow — Patient onboarding (intake, insurance, referral) → Functional Movement Screen analysis → Smart Mirror session → automated report.
- Markerless pose estimation — Powered by MediaPipe, tracking 14 keypoints for real-time motion capture without sensors or wearables.
- Automated FMS scoring — Functional Movement Screen evaluation based on the Cook et al. (2014) rulebook, delivered as an easy-to-read traffic-light score.
- Smart Mirror with live feedback — Sagittal and frontal views with a real-time skeleton overlay, so patients see and correct their movement instantly.
- Time-series progress tracking — InfluxDB stores per-session ROM, FMS, and asymmetry data, making progress measurable and visible over time.
- One-click reporting — PDF export ready for physicians and insurers, closing the documentation loop automatically
