Background
Musculoskeletal problems, such as lower back pain, are becoming an ever-increasing problem, that is often treated with the help of physiotherapy. Deficits in movement are of detected through the use of the Functional Movement Screen, or FMS for short, a vital but often subjectively scored assessment tool.
A good outcome in physiotherapy and therefore betterment of the patient’s ailments is dependent on another key factor, patient compliance. This is a factor that is hard to control from the physiotherapists point of view, since they must trust their patients, when they say they have done their assigned exercises at home. A task that is increasingly difficult in today’s fast paced world.
Aim
MOVIVO aims to be an assistant for both physiotherapists and patients alike. Through the use of a Smart Mirror MOVIVO will be designed to offer physiotherapists an objective method for scoring the FMS of their patients and provide the physiotherapist with a summary of the patients’ progress.
On the patient side MOVIVO aims to better patient compliance by tracking home exercises, with the help of pose estimation methods and provide them with immediate feedback on the accuracy of the exercises performed. Further it will logsthese sessions and deliver a detailed report to the patient’s physiotherapist.
